We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised and proactive Administration Officer to join our friendly and supportive team on a temporary basis whilst our current School Business Manager takes maternity leave.
From the current School Business Manager:
Queen’s Hill is a vibrant, diverse and popular school on the outskirts of Norwich. With over 600 pupils and around 90 staff, no two days are ever the same.
As Administration Officer, you will play an important role in supporting the smooth day to day running of our school. You will work closely and provide support to the Headteacher, Assistant Headteachers and Governors, whilst also managing the operational needs of our school.
One moment you may be processing orders and invoices, supporting recruitment administration or updating records, and the next you could be helping a parent with a query, arranging contractors' visits, supporting health and safety administration or responding to requests from colleagues across the school.
This is a varied and rewarding role that would suit someone who enjoys being organised, solving problems and working with a wide range of people. Flexibility, excellent communication skills and a positive attitude are essential.
We are a school with a strong team ethos. Staff support one another, celebrate successes together and are committed to providing the very best outcomes for our children. If you enjoy building positive relationships, managing competing priorities and being at the heart of a busy school community, this could be the role for you.
What the role includes:
- Assisting with HR administration, including recruitment paperwork, contracts and staffing changes.
- Liaising with Norfolk County Council and other external agencies as required.
- Providing administrative and organisational support to the Headteacher and wider leadership team.
- Acting as a key point of contact for parents, staff, pupils, visitors and contractors.
- Maintaining school records, databases and filing systems.
- Supporting health and safety administration, including maintaining records and arranging statutory checks.
- Managing and monitoring school subscriptions, service agreements and contracts.
- Assisting with admissions, pupil administration and reporting requirements.
- Supporting the effective running of the school office and providing cover when required.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the smooth operation of a large and busy primary school.
What we’re looking for:
- Experience in an administrative role, ideally within a school or similar busy environment
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good ICT skills, including Microsoft Office, Google Drive and Bromcom
- The ability to work independently whilst also contributing positively as part of a team
- A professional, confidential and flexible approach to work
