Do you take pride in a job well done?At Parkwood Primary, we want every pupil, parent, staff member, and visitor to walk into a school that feels clean, organised, safe, and welcoming. We’re looking for a reliable and conscientious Housekeeper to help us achieve that every day.
This is a daytime role, so you’ll be part of school life and a familiar face around the building. You’ll keep shared spaces tidy, toilets clean and stocked, and the whole school well presented throughout the day. If you have an eye for detail and like seeing a space at its best, we’d love to hear from you.
What you’ll be doing- Keeping corridors, entrances, communal areas and shared spaces clean, tidy and free from clutter
- Checking pupil and staff toilets regularly, cleaning them and restocking toilet rolls, soap and paper towels
- Returning furniture, equipment and resources to their proper places, and helping keep storage areas and cupboards organised
- Dealing with minor cleaning needs and spillages as they come up, following school procedures
- Spotting and reporting hazards, damage, plumbing problems or anything that needs maintenance or specialist cleaning
- Using and storing cleaning products safely in line with COSHH guidance, and keeping them out of reach of children
- Keeping walkways, corridors and emergency exits clear
- Following our health and safety, infection control and safeguarding procedures
Essential
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking
- High standards of cleanliness, tidiness and organisation
- Good attention to detail and the ability to use your initiative
- Able to work independently and prioritise tasks within your hours
- A flexible, positive attitude and good communication skills
- An understanding of why safeguarding and confidentiality matter in a school
- Able to meet the physical demands of the role safely
Desirable
- Previous cleaning, housekeeping or premises experience
- Experience of working in a school or similar setting
- Knowledge of basic health and safety and hygiene procedures
- Experience of using cleaning products safely
No experience? Don’t let that put you off. We provide full training, and we value the right attitude as much as experience.
What we offer- A friendly, supportive team who will value your contribution
- A school community built on our values of being Responsible, Kind, Honest, Ambitious and Resilient
- Training and induction
- [Local Government Pension Scheme, term-time working, employee assistance programme, other benefits]
- The chance to be part of The Primary First Trust, a growing family of schools across Bexley, Medway and Kent
