Welcome from the Principal:
Thank you for your interest in the vacancy at Outwood Academy Brumby.

About the Department:
The Performing Arts and PE / Dance / Health & Social Care team at Outwood Academy Brumby is a dynamic, collaborative and welcoming department made up of passionate educators with a wide range of experience and expertise. As subject leader of Drama, you will lead the Drama provision while working alongside dedicated colleagues across PE, Sports Studies, Dance and Health & Social Care. The wider team benefits from strong leadership experience alongside teachers who are committed to honing their craft and supporting one another.
There are extensive opportunities for professional development both within the academy and across the wider Outwood Grange Academies Trust (OGAT), making Outwood Academy Brumby a fantastic place to grow as a middle leader and educator.
Drama teaching takes place in dedicated specialist facilities equipped to deliver both practical and theoretical learning. Classrooms are fitted with modern instructional technology, including visualisers and large displays, which are embedded across daily practice to model performance.
Our curriculum is carefully structured to ensure all students develop a firm grounding in drama. Learning is differentiated by depth, ensuring students build confidence and retain key drama concepts before progressing. In KS3, students are exposed to key dramal concepts, diverse genres and practical skills early on, building a strong foundation that seamlessly connects Year 7 through to Year 11. This creates an engaging and ambitious curriculum that continually revisits and deepens prior learning.
This is an exciting time to join the department as we continue to refine our teaching and learning strategies, informed by educational research and practical best practice to secure the best possible outcomes for all students. As subject leader you will play a pivotal role in driving this development and shaping the drama life of the academy, both inside the classroom and through extra-curricular opportunities.
As across all OGAT secondary academies, the department works with high-quality, Trust-developed curriculum resources designed by subject specialists who know the specifications inside out. You will also benefit from regular support from the Trust's expert Directors and School Standards & Improvement Partners, who provide bespoke coaching, high quality resources and collaborative support to help you excel in leading the department.
If you have any questions or would like to visit the school, please contact Terri-Ann Smith, Head of Department at [email protected]
