REQUIRED ASAP

We are seeking to extend the high-level support already offered by our sixth form team by creating a Sixth Form Learning Support position for an academically capable, motivated, and supportive individual.

Supporting students in a post-16 setting requires a shift from the support offered at key stage 3 and 4. This role will offer academic mentoring designed to facilitate deep understanding, while nurturing independent study habits. You will work closely with subject specialist teachers, the sixth form team and SEND department assisting students taking post-16 qualifications who have EHCPs, neurodivergent conditions (e.g., ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia), or require tailored academic intervention.

You will work under the guidance of teaching staff and the learning support team to provide high-level academic, executive functioning, and pastoral support to post-16 students undertaking A-Level courses. The role focuses on helping students overcome barriers to learning—including SEND, mental health challenges, and executive dysfunction—while actively fostering the self-direction required for higher education and employment.

Vandyke is a great place to work, with high expectations and a caring ethos. Our annual survey consistently shows that staff feel well supported and are supportive of one another, students enjoy coming to school and our parents/carers are hugely supportive of our school.

The successful candidate will be joining a thriving school, with a growing reputation for excellent teaching and achievement as well as innovative and inclusive practice.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people. References and an online search will be carried out for all shortlisted candidates. An enhanced DBS check is required for all successful applicants.

Visits to the school can be arranged by contacting Jo Sessions.
